We won the Langley Park School project early in 2015 following a competitive pitch process. They chose Price based on our experience working on similar projects, our approach to project management and our understanding of their objectives.
The school building history dates back to 1919, and so requires regular maintenance and development to keep it in line with modern standards. The project involved the replacement of half of the windows across the site, alongside the upgrade of over 250 fire doors in the main school building and outbuildings. We also upgraded Langley Park’s fire detection and alarm system to BS5839 standards in keeping with new regulations.
In addition, the staff toilets needed renovating, so we designed and fitted out the ladies and gents facilities as part of our engagement. Like the school, we are an environmentally focused business; so we recommended and sourced eco-friendly products including dual flush technology and energy-saving hand dryers. Langley Park also required updates to various power, lighting and heating systems; all of which we provided sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for.
The school also commissioned us to form a number of new Learning Support areas; through the design and fit-out of new offices to provide additional learning space for their pupils. This part of the project included the removal of walls, the implementation of new ceilings, flooring and decoration.
The project needed to be delivered for the start of the new school year in September, so we started work out of hours from March to achieve the finish date. We coordinated our team and suppliers around school times to minimise the disruption to the school days. Our hard work and careful planning meant we were able to complete the project on budget and six weeks ahead of schedule.
