Victorian Door Upgrade

Following a competitive pitch process, we won a programme of work with Burnt Oak Junior School to upgrade all existing Victorian doors and frames to meet half-hour fire regulations, all existing fire alarms and the emergency light system. The project required the management of between 25 to 30 people on site during the summer holidays to ensure it was completed safely and efficiently outside of school hours. We managed to complete the full fit and finish of the doors and frames, along with the fire alarm and emergency light system all within two weeks.

Purpose Made Joinery

Because the existing doors were such a key part of the style of the halls, and highly unique, we worked with the school to ensure we could replace them with like for like, perfectly matching doors and frames. We worked with a local, specialist supplier in London who measured the complete doors and half pipe frame during the May bank holiday weekend before, following eight weeks of manufacturing, delivering the doors and frames in time for fitting during Summer Holidays. The joinery was custom made, pre-hung and spray finished from a dense hardwood, using sustainable, green materials and suppliers where possible.

Our approach enabled the school to keep the character and style of the original Victorian doors, whilst still meeting the imperative half-hour fire safety regulations. The project was completed fully on time and budget, to the great satisfaction of the school.

"I’m really pleased. You have done such a great job."
